The HMA400 grade exhibits a yield strength ≥400 MPa, tensile strength ranging from 800 to 950 MPa, elongation ≥35%, and a transversal impact energy ≥60J, with typical values reaching 893 MPa tensile strength and 180J impact energy. The Q400GMDR variant, a performance-enhanced counterpart, achieves even higher toughness with impact energy ≥80J, making it well-suited for demanding marine cryogenic environments.

Compared to conventional 9Ni steel—long considered the industry standard for LNG containment—LY Steel’s manganese-based alternative delivers a more cost-effective and productive solution.
